Bio

I’m originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, but most of my favorite childhood memories took place far from home. I was fortunate enough to have all kinds of outdoor experiences growing up, from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas to the rocky coastline of Maine. These adventures with my family developed within me a passion for the environment. While in college, I took advantage of breaks to travel and be outside as much as possible, from spending a month horse packing in Wyoming with NOLS to living in the Caribbean for a month earning my scuba instructor certification. After graduating, I had the opportunity to teach 4th grade at a public school in my hometown, where I focused on developing meaningful relationships with my students and encouraging them to take an active role in their own learning. Since, I’ve expanded my experience into the world of informal education, teaching at IslandWood for a year while finishing my masters degree. I am passionate about bringing outdoor learning experiences into the classroom, being a culturally responsive educator, and making learning fun for kids!
